Zelmar Garín came from Veracruz, Mexico, where he grew up with traditional local sounds. In the early 1970s, he moved to Mexico City and got involved with the rock scene there, which shaped his approach to music.
His song "Do Mayor Mexicano" came out in 1988 and became widely known in Mexico. Another track, "Guitarras Raspadas," also appears among his work. He released albums like Zelmar Garín (1988), El Garín (1990), and México Mágico (1992).
Over time, Garín worked with musicians including Arturo Cervantes on guitar, Rafael Miranda on bass, and José Luis Pardo on drums. He also collaborated with artists such as Carlos Santana, Ramón Ayala, and Rubén Rada.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
