Zemoh formed in Getxo, Spain in 1994 with Evaristo Páramos on vocals and guitar, Alberto Portillo on bass, and Javier Alzola on drums. Their debut album came out the following year, titled 'Empezando por la Z' after the opening track. That song became something of an anthem for them, with its direct, confrontational energy setting a tone early on.
They kept releasing records over the next couple of decades, including 'El Turista' in 1997 and 'Les Comportas del Cielo' in 2004. The lineup changed in 2008 when Alzola left and Dani Fernández joined on drums. Their later material, like the 2012 album 'Menos Que cero', showed a band that could shift between aggressive rock and more reflective moments, as heard on songs like 'En recuerdo a una amiga' and 'Mis Colores En El Cielo'.
Their music often carried a political edge, and that stance sometimes put them at odds with authorities. They built a reputation on that unapologetic approach, with Páramos's rough vocals and the band's heavy, driving sound creating a consistent identity through their catalog.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
