Zen Dog formed in Vienna in 1984 with Thomas Spitzer on vocals and guitar, Michael Kern on bass, and Armin Zeitler on drums. They put out their first album, 'Hokuspokus,' the next year. That record had 'Rock Me Amadeus,' their reworking of Mozart's 'Eine kleine Nachtmusik,' which became a worldwide hit.
They released three more studio albums after that, including a self-titled one in 1987 and 'Spitzer' in 1991. The band added a keyboardist in 1985 and a saxophonist later on. They kept playing and recording through the 1990s before calling it quits in 1998.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
