Zenatto e Cipriano are a Brazilian duo who first met in São Paulo in the late 1970s. They started writing songs together, playing small bars and clubs around the city. In 1983, they released their debut album, which included the track 'Cinderela.'
That song became their most recognizable piece. It's a ballad about unfulfilled love that connected with listeners, though some critics at the time questioned its origins. The duo denied any borrowing from other sources.
They went on to release other albums like 'O Último Canto' in 1985 and 'Pequena Sereia' in 1987. Their sound combined acoustic guitar work with hushed vocals, often circling themes of love and loss. They've kept working as a pair, with Luiz Carlos Zenatto and Alberto Cipriano maintaining a fairly private presence outside of their music.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
