Zenenego formed in the late 1990s with musicians from the countryside of Minas Gerais. Their sound draws from traditional folk and Brazilian popular music, with songs like 'A Moda de Um Pião de Boiadeiro' and 'Teus Olhos Cheios de Lágrimas' capturing rural themes. The band includes Fábio Sombra on vocals and guitar, Rodrigo Júnior on vocals and violin, Gabriel Guedes on vocals and bass, and Pedro Tude on drums.
Their debut album came out in 2001, and they've worked with artists including Milton Nascimento and Luiz Gonzaga. Zenenego's lyrics sometimes address social and political topics, which has sparked discussion. Their music reflects the landscapes and cowboy culture of Brazil's interior, heard in tracks like 'Segura Sanfoneiro' and 'Vulcão Aéreo'.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
