Zenitth formed in France in 1983 around guitarist Christian Laborie and vocalist Jean-Philippe Bourdon. They released their first album a few years later, but it was the 1986 single 'Metropollis' that really caught people's attention. The song had a big, dramatic sound that felt both urgent and cinematic, like a soundtrack for city life at night.
After 'Metropollis', they put out albums like 'Escalade' in 1987 and 'Zenith' in 1989. Their music mixed rock with some pop and progressive touches, and they developed a reputation for putting on intense live shows. Other songs like 'Quero Morrer Em Público' and 'Ruínas' showed they could write with a darker, more introspective edge when they wanted to.
The band's lineup shifted over time, with Laborie and Bourdon staying at the center while other musicians came and went.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
