Zennus formed in Berlin around 2009, with vocalist Anya Volkov and producer Erik Larsen at the center. They were joined by bassist Katya Petrova and drummer Marek Jankowski. The band's debut EP came out in 2012, featuring the track "Blackout."
That song became their most recognizable work, with its haunting melody and cryptic lyrics about a dystopian world. It resonated with listeners and helped define their early sound.
Beyond "Blackout," Zennus released albums like "Ashes" in 2014, "Transient" in 2016, "Echoes of Silence" in 2018, and "Requiem" in 2020. Their music blended ethereal electronica with ambient and industrial touches, often described as unsettling and introspective.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
