Zeppet Store formed in New York City in the early 2000s as a quartet with Ethan James on vocals and guitar, Lily Rose on bass and vocals, Ben Carter on drums, and Jack Harper on keyboards and vocals. Their 2005 debut album 'Echoes of the Void' got some attention for its atmospheric sound. Two years later, the album 'Distance' gave them a wider audience, with the title track becoming particularly well-known among their songs like 'Tooku made' and 'Rose'.

After keyboardist Jack Harper left in 2011, the band continued as a trio. They put out 'Ashes to Ashes' in 2013 and 'Requiem for the Damned' in 2016, records that moved toward a darker, more experimental direction than their earlier work.
