ZeRO was a German experimental band that formed from members of two previous groups. Their lineup included vocalist and guitarist Janik Ehrlich, bassist Daniel Gündisch, and drummer Matthias Bräuer. They released their debut album 'Zenith' in 2003, which contained the track 'Zugorow.'
'Zugorow' became their most recognized song, featuring eerie instrumentation and cryptic lyrics that drew inspiration from Russian writer Daniil Kharms. The song's unsettling quality came from Ehrlich's intense vocal delivery against the band's rhythmic foundation.
After 'Zenith,' ZeRO put out several more albums including 'Alfa-Zenit' in 2005, 'Alunit' in 2008, and 'Apeiron' in 2012. Their music blended industrial, noise, and ambient elements in ways that some listeners found challenging. The band stopped working together in 2014.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
