Zero Dollar formed in Buenos Aires in 1995 with Hugo "Tucán" Barea on vocals, Pablo "Palo" Ledesma on guitar, Diego "Fengk" Correa on bass, and Pablo "Tiki" Macchiaroli on drums. They put out their self-titled debut album in 1998, which included the track "Última Queda." The band followed that with records like "Rompiendo el Silencio" in 1999, "La Falsa Esperanza" in 2002, and "El Camino del Guerrero" in 2007.
Their sound was built around distorted guitars and pounding rhythms, with lyrics that often addressed social and political themes. This approach sometimes led to friction with authorities at their shows. The lineup shifted over time, with Ledesma leaving in 2004 and Correa departing in 2011, but Barea remained the consistent vocal presence.
In Argentina's hardcore scene, Zero Dollar became a reference point for other bands. Their music, particularly songs like "Última Queda," held a place in that scene's development through the late 1990s and 2000s.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
