Zero Effect was an alternative rock band with James Carter on lead vocals and guitar, Emily Rose on bass and backing vocals, and Daniel Hayes on drums. They released their debut album 'Drifting Along' in 2002, followed by 'Lost in Oblivion' in 2004 and 'Unveiled' in 2007.
Their early single 'Drifting Along' got some critical attention but didn't sell particularly well. In 2006, they had a public disagreement with their record label about creative control, which became a talking point about how independent musicians navigate the industry.
Despite those early difficulties, they kept touring and built a following. 'Lost in Oblivion' connected with listeners through its direct emotional tone, and songs like 'Into My Arms' and 'Rest My Head Against The Wall' became part of their setlists. They never became a mainstream commercial force, but they found their audience.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
