Zero Negativo formed in São Paulo in the early 1990s, coming out of the city's underground punk scene. The band was led by vocalist Xixo and guitarist Yudi, with bassist Carlos "China" Gomes and drummer Luciano "Fregonese" Simionato also playing key roles. Their debut album was called "Agora É Que São Elas."
Their song "Também Quero Ter uma Banda" became something of an anthem for aspiring musicians. The band's lyrics often dealt with social issues and rebellion, delivered with a raw punk energy that connected with listeners. They followed their debut with albums like "Nós" and "Se Deus Vier Que Venha Armado."
While their lineup changed over time, Xixo and Yudi remained central figures. The band developed a reputation for pushing boundaries with their music and attitude, becoming an influential presence in Brazil's punk scene.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
