Zero Nine formed in London in 2002 with Sam Thornton on vocals and rhythm guitar, Richy Craig on lead guitar, Chris Fox on bass, and Simon Grubbs on drums. Their debut album 'The Beginning' came out in 2004, followed by 'More Than Zero' in 2007, 'Higher Ground' in 2010, and 'Unstoppable' in 2013. Richy Craig left the band in 2012 and was replaced by guitarist Ben Wheeler.
Their song 'Banging On Drums' became a live favorite, along with tracks like 'Intrigue,' 'White Lines,' and 'Angel.' In 2009, their performance at a music festival drew criticism for being too provocative, though the band defended it as artistic expression.
They toured regularly, building a following with energetic shows. The lineup changes and occasional controversies didn't stop them from putting out records and playing live through the 2010s.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
