Zero-zero Ufo came together in Brazil during the 1980s with Francoise Forton on vocals, Claudio Mendes on keyboards and vocals, Pedro Costa on bass, and Marquinhos Magalhães on drums. Their first single "Dá Um Tempo" came out in 1983 and caught on quickly, built around synthesizers and Forton's voice. They put out albums like Zero-zero Ufo in 1984 and Locura Total in 1986, working in a style that leaned into electronic pop.
Some listeners found their sound and presentation unconventional at the time, but they kept recording through the decade. Later records included Boneca de Pano in 1988 and O Mundo Encantado de Zero-zero Ufo in 1990. Their music from that period still gets played and covered occasionally.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
