Zerzil formed in Porto Alegre in 1985, with Paulo Ricardo on vocals, Beto on guitar, Pedro Guerra on bass, and Algieri on drums. Their debut album 'Nosso Jeito' came out the next year, and its lead single 'Ressaca' turned into a national hit in Brazil. The song's upbeat take on a hangover connected with listeners, and it remains their best-known track, alongside others like 'Sorveteria' and 'Dragão'.
After guitarist Beto left in 1989, the band went through some instability. They kept recording into the early '90s, but their lyrics started drawing criticism, and they took a break from 1994 to 2000. When they reunited with the original lineup, they put out more albums and toured again.
Their catalog includes records like 'O Lugar' from 1987 and 'Vivo' from 2000, but 'Ressaca' is still the song people remember. It's one of those tunes that just stuck around.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
