Zeu Forrozeiro is a Brazilian forró band from the Northeast region, formed in the early 2000s. The group is led by singer-songwriter José Antônio de Sousa, who goes by Zeu. Their music mixes traditional forró with more contemporary sounds, which has drawn both fans and criticism from purists of the genre.
In 2005, they released the album 'Turbulência,' which includes their signature song of the same name. The track became something of an anthem for the band, capturing their energetic style. They've put out several other records since, like 'Forró de Primeira' in 2007 and 'Descontrolado' in 2010.
The band's lineup has included Zeu on vocals and guitar, Léo do Pajeú and Neném do Acordeon on accordion, Marcos Pontual on zabumba, and Tatin de Mendonça on bass. Their live shows, particularly a 2013 recording from Recife, are known for being pretty vibrant affairs.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
