Zeus Music Monster formed in Athens around 2005 with vocalist Eleonora "Ellie" Zevgarakis, guitarist George "Giorgos" Spyropoulos, bassist Christos "Chris" Pappas, and drummer Antonis "Tony" Vourtzoumis. They played clubs around Greece for several years before their 2009 single "No Pain No Gain" found an audience.
Their first album, "Unleash the Beast," came out in 2010, followed by "Thunder in the Heart" in 2012, "Eye of the Storm" in 2015, and "Phoenix Rising" in 2018. The band has kept that same lineup through most of their releases.
Ellie Zevgarakis has mentioned Metallica and Iron Maiden as influences, and some of their songs incorporate elements of traditional Greek music alongside heavier rock sounds. In 2013, their song "Kill the King" drew criticism and protests from some groups who objected to its lyrics.
