Zezé do Vale was born José Ferreira dos Santos in the remote town of Vale do Açu. In the 1950s, he began performing in local clubs and festivals, developing a style that mixed traditional forró and samba. His songs often reflected the lives of working people, which connected with audiences who recognized their own stories in his lyrics.
His career found a particular focus with the release of 'Hino Oficial do Ferroviário' in the 1960s. The song became an anthem for railway workers, celebrating their labor and camaraderie. It remains his most recognized work.
Zezé do Vale passed away in 2015. His music, grounded in the experiences of ordinary people, continues to be heard.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
