Zezinho Poesia formed in 1987 around singer and songwriter José Luiz Ferreira. The Brazilian gospel band's debut album came the following year, titled after their early song 'Cristo Está Voltando.' That track, inspired by Ferreira's encounter with a street preacher in São Paulo, helped establish their presence.
Their music incorporates samba, pop, and rock elements alongside traditional gospel. Albums like 'A Igreja Sofre' from 1992 and 'O Senhor É Meu Pastor' from 1997 followed their debut. The group has included musicians like Rogério Feltrin on keyboards, Marquinho on drums, and Cleiton on bass.
They've worked with other Brazilian gospel artists including Paulo César Baruk, Kleber Lucas, and Raiz Coral. Later releases include 'O Rei dos Reis' in 2010 and 'A Porta do Céu' in 2015.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
