Zezinho Vaqueiro was born in Serrinha, Bahia in 1949. As a boy, he made a guitar from wood and wire to play for neighbors.
He released 'Voltando Pra Casa' in 1975, a song about homecoming that became widely known. Other albums included 'A Foice e o Martelo' in 1978 and 'Brasil Moreno' in 1982. He worked with musicians like Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso, and his early band included his brothers Zito Vaqueiro and Zé Pretinho.
Zezinho Vaqueiro's songs have been translated and covered by other artists. He is remembered for his connection to the Brazilian Northeast.
