Zezito and Zé Paulo were a Brazilian duo who started performing together in the early 1970s in Itaporanga, Paraíba. Their 1975 debut album included "Foi Bom Te Ver," a song that became widely popular across Brazil. They worked with traditional Brazilian instruments like the accordion and triangle, drawing from forró and sertanejo styles.
Their catalog includes songs like "A Me Querer," "Alçapão," and "Debaixo do Cobertor." In the 1980s, they faced plagiarism allegations regarding "Foi Bom Te Ver," which led to a legal settlement. Personal rumors about drug use and infidelity also circulated during their career.
Zé Paulo's health declined in the late 1990s, reducing the duo's performances. Zezito continued as a solo artist afterward. Zé Paulo died in 2020 at age 75.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
