Zhane was an R&B trio of three sisters, Jean Norris, Renée Norris, and Dawn Robinson, who put out four albums in the 1990s. Their first album, 'Pronounced Jah-Nay,' came out in 1993, followed by 'Saturday Night' in 1997 and a self-titled record in 1999. They had a collection called 'The Prelude: A Collection of the Best of Zhane' in 2000.
Their song 'Hey Mr. DJ' became a hit, and other tracks like 'Groove Thang' and 'Request Line' showed their mix of R&B, soul, and hip-hop. The sisters' harmonies and lyrics often touched on themes of love and independence.
After 2000, Zhane took a break, though the members worked on solo projects. They played some shows together in 2008 but disbanded in 2011.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
