Zhero formed in Porto Alegre, Brazil in 1999, with childhood friends Raphael Moreira on vocals, Luciano Pinto on bass, and Bruno Guedes on drums. Their debut album 'Desabafo' came out in 2002, and that title track became something of an anthem for them. They've released six studio albums total, including 'Sem Medo de Errar' in 2006 and 'A Lâmina e a Ferida' in 2013.
Their music, like the songs 'Eu Quero Te Ajudar' and 'Saudade,' often dealt with raw emotional territory. That directness, along with a confrontational stage presence, drew criticism from some quarters who felt they promoted negative attitudes. The band didn't really back down from that position, which became part of their identity.
They were a straightforward rock trio, with Moreira's vocals and lyrics at the front, Pinto's bass providing the foundation, and Guedes on drums driving the rhythm. Their sound wasn't about breaking new musical ground so much as delivering that energy with conviction. For a certain segment of Brazilian rock fans in the 2000s, that was enough to make them matter.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
