Zhina is a Parisian quartet that formed in the early 2000s, with Loubna Méridja on vocals, Pat Kalla on guitar, Jean-François Boissonnot on bass, and David Polanco on drums. Their debut album in 2003, also titled 'Parle-moi de lui,' featured the song that became their most recognizable track. They followed it with 'Dans l'ombre de ton sourire' in 2005 and 'Sahra' in 2010.
Their music pulls from pop, soul, and Afrobeat, with 'Parle-moi de lui' serving as a clear example of that blend. The 2010 album 'Sahra' drew more directly from Loubna's North African background. The band's sound is built around her vocals, Kalla's guitar work that mixes African and contemporary styles, Boissonnot's bass lines, and Polanco's drumming, which adds a Latin feel.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
