Zica Latina formed in New York City in the early 2000s. The group included Juan Cruz on vocals and percussion, Mario Ortiz on keyboards, Angel Sanchez on trombone, Roberto Colon on bass, and Edwin Rodriguez on timbales and congas.
Their 2005 track "Arm Lock" became their most recognizable song. The same year, the song's lyrics and dance moves drew criticism from some conservative groups, though the band defended it as part of their cultural expression.
They released albums like "Zica Latina" in 2003 and "Pa'l Mundo" in 2007. Other songs in their catalog include "Curtindo Uma Gata" and "Sentido da Vida (Frango Bom É Frango Morto)."
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
