Ziezo formed in 1997 when childhood friends Maarten Witkam and Martijn Konijnenberg started playing music together, later adding drummer Ron van der Ploeg.
In 2000, they released "De Regenworm En Zijn Moeder," a song about an earthworm's affection for his mother that became their most recognizable work. The track's mix of whimsy and sincerity connected with listeners and has remained part of Dutch popular music since.
Witkam left the band in 2002, and while the remaining members continued performing and recording albums like "Vergeet Me Niet" and "Naakt," the group's sound shifted after his departure. They put out a live album in 2005 before winding down their activity.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
