Zignal's sound came straight out of Salvador, blending reggae with local Bahian beats. Songs like 'Viajante' and 'Mundo Estranho' carried that mix, and 'Reggae do Horto' became a neighborhood anthem in 1997. They kept playing through early plagiarism accusations around their debut album.
Zignal formed in Salvador with Tom Tavares as vocalist and songwriter. Their self-titled debut came out, followed by albums like 'Batida de Coco' and 'Tudo de Novo'. The lineup included Maurício Abrahão on guitar, Paulo César on bass, and Jefferson Barros on drums.
