Zila formed in the early 2000s around vocalist Natália Lima, guitarist João Gabriel, bassist Guilherme Guedes, and drummer Mateus Alquimi. They put out their self-titled debut album in 2008, which mixed folk and rock with Brazilian rhythms.
Their 2012 album, also called "Desejo das Ondas," gave them a signature song of the same name. They've kept working since, with later records like "Maquinária" in 2017 and "Adeus à Lógica" in 2021.
Their sound has drawn some criticism for being too experimental, but they've also found a following for it. They've played with artists like Caetano Veloso and Gilberto Gil.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
