Zillertaler Schürzenjäger formed in 1977 in Austria's Zillertal Valley with five musicians from the region. Their debut album 'Erste Liebe' came out in 1979, mixing traditional Tyrolean folk with modern pop elements.
Their 1990 album 'Sierra Madre' gave them their biggest hit with the title track, a ballad about a prospector in Mexico. The song became popular across Europe. In the early 2000s, lead singer Peter Margreiter left the band, which continued with new members.
They've released albums like 'Träume sind für alle da' in 1995 and 'Authentisch' in 2012. Their songs include 'Die tuan was für die Leut...', 'Einmal muss jeder geh'n', and 'Dann wirf den ersten Stein'. Some have criticized their lyrics for presenting a romanticized view of Tyrolean culture, though the band says they're celebrating their homeland's traditions.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
