Zinettika formed in Barcelona in 2002 around vocalist Sandra Morán, with guitarist Gabriel Melgosa, bassist Jordi Rossinyol, and drummer Juan José Cardona. Their self-titled debut album came out that same year, and songs like 'De Rodillas Te Pido' and '¿dónde está?' found an audience. The band's sound was built on Morán's direct vocal delivery and straightforward pop-rock arrangements.
They released several more albums, including 'Tiempo de Dulzura' in 2008 and 'Olvídate de Mí' in 2010. The lineup shifted over time, with Cardona leaving in 2007 and Rossinyol departing in 2011. Morán remained the constant presence through these changes. Later records like 'Liberación' and 'Imperfectos' showed the band incorporating more electronic textures while keeping the focus on Morán's voice and the songwriting.
Morán's lyrics, heard in tracks like 'Confusión' and 'Demostraciones Públicas De Amor', often dealt with personal relationships and drew attention for their frankness. The band's work was sometimes discussed in terms of women's perspectives in Spanish pop music, though they operated mainly within commercial pop and rock frameworks without becoming overtly political in their music.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
