Archive material and source history
Zingaros formed in Havana in 1996 as a quartet with Jorge Luis Piloto on vocals and guitar, his brother Alejandro, bassist Xiomara Laugart, and percussionist Manuel Alejandro Reigosa. They released their debut album 'Sueño Real' in 2001, which helped them gain attention in Cuba.
Their second album 'Déjate Llevar' came out in 2002, and its title track became their most recognizable song. 'Déjate Llevar' and 'Matadores de Tristezas' show their approach to Latin rhythms with straightforward, melodic arrangements. The band added drummer Yoandy Utria in 2005.
Zingaros continued recording through the 2000s and 2010s with albums like 'Huellas' and 'Vengo a Verte'. Their music maintained a consistent sound built around Piloto's vocals and accessible Latin pop arrangements. They've released several albums over more than two decades, most recently a compilation in 2020.
