Zinha Mf is the stage name of Mônica de Souza, who formed a samba band under that name in 1999. Their debut album 'Toda Vez Que Eu Te Vejo' came out in 2003, and songs like 'Talvez' and 'Me Olha Nos Olhos' became part of their catalog.
Over time, the group's lineup shifted, and their sound incorporated elements from reggae, pop, and funk while keeping samba at its base. They've worked with artists like Seu Jorge and Gilberto Gil.
Some of their material drew criticism for how it handled African and indigenous musical influences, and Zinha's public persona sometimes sparked debate. The band kept recording through it, putting out albums in 2009, 2013, and 2018.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
