Zipera formed in the early 1990s as a Polish alternative band led by vocalist Joanna Prykowska. Their debut album 'A Short Story' came out in 1994, with songs like 'Pani' and 'Ach śpij kochanie' gaining some attention. The group included Robert Kiernicki on guitar, Jacek Olter on bass, and Piotr Banach on drums.
Their 1997 album 'Obojętność' became a notable release, with the title track serving as one of their more recognized songs. That record, along with later albums like 'Samotność' in 2000 and 'Życie to teatr' in 2003, featured lyrics that touched on personal and social themes, which sometimes drew mixed reactions from listeners.
Zipera's music blended rock and folk elements with Prykowska's distinctive vocal approach. They stopped recording together around 2005, leaving behind a handful of albums that still get mentioned in discussions of Polish alternative music from that period.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
