Zípora formed in Rio de Janeiro in 2009, started by friends including vocalist Céu, guitarist Rodrigo Tavares, bassist Pedro Sá, drummer Thales Ramahlo, and keyboardist Lucas Arruda. Their debut album 'Logo Passa' came out in 2012, with the title track becoming a hit that mixed samba and funk. They followed it with albums like 'Tudo o Que Você Quiser' in 2014 and a live recording from Circo Voador in 2016.
In 2015, founding guitarist Rodrigo Tavares left the band, but they kept going with Rafael Rocha joining on guitar. Around that time, their song 'Vem Pra Rua' from 2016 touched on Brazil's anti-corruption protests, which drew some criticism but showed their interest in social themes. They've put out more albums since, including 'Pra Frente' in 2018 and 'Noite Escura' in 2022.
Their music often blends Brazilian rhythms like samba with pop and funk elements, heard in tracks such as 'Melhor Amigo'. The current lineup still features Céu on vocals, along with Pedro Sá, Thales Ramahlo, Lucas Arruda, and Rafael Rocha.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
