Zipper formed in Rio de Janeiro in the early 1990s around singer-songwriter Leonardo Netto and multi-instrumentalist Marcus Vinícius. They released their debut album 'Tudo Vai Mudar' in 1996, which included the song 'Amanhã' that became widely known in Brazil.
Their lineup included Bruno Ribeiro on bass and vocals, Maurício Barros on drums, and Laura Castro on backing vocals. Over time they put out six studio albums, with titles like 'O Mundo É um Moinho' and 'Batendo Ponto' showing different approaches to Brazilian music.
Their lyrics often addressed social themes, which sometimes drew attention beyond just the music. The song 'Amanhã' remained their most recognizable work, a straightforward piece that connected with listeners without much studio polish or industry backing behind it.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
