Zippera formed in 1997 with Jacek Stęszewski on vocals, Marcin Świerczyński on guitar, Michał Wiraszko on bass, and Tomasz "Tomson" Chachurski on drums. Their debut single "Bez Cisnien" caught on quickly in Poland, giving the band an early foothold in the alternative rock scene there.
They released their first album "Nie Jestem Taki Zły" in 1999, followed by records like "Szymon" in 2002 and "Psychopop" in 2007. In 2007, their song "Powiedz Mi Czy" drew criticism for its lyrics about the Polish government's stance on homosexuality, which the band didn't back away from.
Zippera kept recording through the 2010s, putting out "Więcej Niż Muzyka" in 2014. The four original members have stayed together through the band's run, with Stęszewski's voice and Świerczyński's guitar work remaining central to their sound.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
