Zita Carreiro e Praiana formed as a duo in 1976, with Zita Carreiro from Itapema, Santa Catarina. They started performing at small churches and community events. Their debut album 'Praiana e Zita' came out in 1984, featuring the song 'Adorar Como Eu Adoro' which became widely known.
Their music drew from traditional hymns and Brazilian popular styles. They released over 20 albums with songs like 'Baixo Astral', 'Cantora Apaixonada', and 'Nuvens Pardas'. Some conservative religious circles criticized their approach to gospel music.
Zita Carreiro handled vocals while Praiana played guitar. Their work helped popularize gospel music in Brazil beyond church settings.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
