Zjuul Krapuul formed in Sint-Niklaas in the late 1980s around Jos Van Hemelrijck, Jan Geerts, and Jan De Bie. They started playing local festivals and pubs, and in 1990 released their debut album 'Rusten Maar Niet.' That record included 't Kiekelieke,' a song about a stuffed animal that became a national hit in Flanders.
Their sound mixed folk, rock, and cabaret with humorous, sometimes irreverent lyrics. After 't Kiekelieke,' they put out albums like 'Zjuul Krapuul 2' in 1991 and 'Oepzere Zoete' in 1993. They worked with Guido Belcanto, who produced several of their records and sang on some tracks.
Other songs in their catalog include 'Caeleste,' 'Catharsis,' and 'De Kat.' The band kept recording through the 2000s and 2010s, with albums like 'Ezelshit' in 2013 and 'De Grote Blanke' in 2017.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
