Zoe 95 formed in Porto Alegre, Brazil in 1993 with vocalist Paula Toller, guitarist Paulo Sérgio Santos, bassist Felipe Rodrigo, and drummer Fabrício Tavares. Their debut album 'Só Pro Meu Prazer' came out in 1995 and included the single 'Sou Eu Assim Sem Você,' which became a hit. The band's sound mixed pop, rock, and samba elements.
Tavares left the band in 2000, and Santos died from cancer in 2009. Zoe 95 kept recording and touring after these changes, releasing eight studio albums through 2013. They worked with Brazilian musicians like Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, and Djavan at different points.
Toller's direct approach to lyrics and occasional comments on social matters sometimes drew attention.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
