Zombie Death Stench formed in the Appalachian mountains in the early 2000s, led by vocalist and guitarist Viktor Nekros. They've released three studio albums: 'From the Crypt' in 2005, 'The Fog' in 2008, and 'Shadows in the Crypt' in 2013. Their music draws from horror fiction and classic heavy metal.
Their track 'The Fog' became something of an anthem for the band's particular corner of metal. The current lineup includes Morgan Sinclair on bass and Ethan Hollows on drums alongside Nekros.
Their graphic lyrics and imagery have drawn criticism at times, but they've maintained a cult following within the heavy metal community. They've never really chased mainstream success, sticking instead to their own uncompromising style.
