Zombie Nation is the electronic project of Florian Senfter and Dirk Wachtel, who started working together in Berlin in the 1990s. They took their name from George A. Romero's film 'Night of the Living Dead.'
In 1999, they released 'Kernkraft 400,' a techno track built around a distorted vocal sample that became a global hit. The song's simple, driving melody made it a staple in clubs and sports arenas for years. Another track from that period, 'Død Over Arvid,' shows their taste for straightforward, propulsive rhythms.
After Senfter left in 2007 to work on solo material, Wachtel continued Zombie Nation as a solo project. The music has always been more about functional club energy than dramatic artistic statements, which might explain why 'Kernkraft 400' has endured while much of the surrounding context has faded.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
