Zona 22 formed in Kingston in 2000 with a lineup that included brothers Devon "Junior" Bonner on vocals and guitar and Michael "Bongo" Bonner on drums, along with Dean Fraser on saxophone, Dwight "DK" Richards on bass, and Andrew "Bubbla" Henry on keyboards. They put out their debut album "Wake the Nation" early on, which helped them build a following.
Their music often dealt with social issues, and they faced some pushback for lyrics that touched on poverty and inequality. They kept at it, releasing albums like "Reggae Through the Years" in 2006, "Children of the Sun" in 2010, and "One Love" in 2014. The track "Regue" is among their work.
They collaborated with other reggae artists including Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley and Stephen Marley. Beyond recording, they've been involved with charity work focused on education and community projects in Jamaica.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
