Zona Infame formed in Los Angeles in 2004, playing local bars and community events on the city's Eastside. Their 2007 single "Amores de Barrio" became a regional hit, helping them build a following with songs that mixed traditional Mexican corridos with hip-hop and cumbia rhythms. The band's lineup included Lenin Ramírez on lead vocals and guitar, Adrián Navarro on vocals and bass, Luis Sánchez on drums, and Gustavo Alonso on accordion.
Their music often dealt with barrio life, love, and heartbreak in straightforward terms. After "Amores de Barrio," they released albums like 2009's "Los Patrones de la Calle" and 2011's "El Barrio de la Fama," which included tracks such as "Como Tú" and "Quiero Saber de Ti." Some traditionalists criticized their genre-blending approach, but their sound found an audience that connected with its directness.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
