Zona Zero formed in Setúbal, Portugal in the mid-1980s. Their self-titled debut album came out in 1987 and found an audience with its straightforward rock sound. The band's lineup included Rui Veloso on vocals, Zé Pedro on guitar, Mário Delgado on bass, and Tim on drums.
In 1989 they released "Alguns de Nós," which became one of their most recognizable songs. Other tracks like "Amor, Amar" and "Cartas Em Jogo" helped establish their presence in Portuguese rock. The band's lyrics sometimes touched on social themes, which occasionally drew attention from authorities.
Rui Veloso left in 1992 to work on solo material, and Carlos Maria Trindade took over as vocalist. They kept recording through the 1990s with albums like "Voltar Para a Praia" and "Puro," and later put out an acoustic record. The group maintained a following even as their commercial peak passed.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
