Zone Off formed in 1998 from the remains of an earlier band called The Strain. The original lineup included vocalist Nick Zampiello, guitarists Mike Talbott and Aaron Lewis, bassist Jason Volpicello, and drummer Chris Baker. They put out their debut album 'Father of Sanity' in 2000, which included the title track that became their most recognizable song.
Their sound mixed heavy, chugging guitar rhythms with melodic rock elements, drawing some inspiration from bands like Slipknot and System of a Down. After 'Father of Sanity,' they released a couple more albums in the mid-2000s, including 'The Healing' and 'Mind over Matter.' The lineup shifted over time, with Zampiello staying as the constant member while others like Lewis and Volpicello eventually left.
They kept playing and putting out music through the 2000s and 2010s, though they didn't match the attention their first album received. In more recent years, they've mostly done smaller shows and occasional releases.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
