Zoo formed in Belo Horizonte in 1995, with brothers Pedro and Rodrigo Lima on vocals and guitar, bassist Caio Tibério, and drummer Beto Viana. Their debut album 'Mais Uma Vez' came out the following year. The band's sound drew from grunge and alternative rock, and they built a following with straightforward lyrics and live shows that had some energy to them.
One of their better-known songs is 'Esteja Lá,' a ballad that connected with listeners. They also put out tracks like 'No Controle' and 'Saudade de Nós.' Their catalog includes albums such as 'Coisa Linda' in 1997, 'Sonhando Acordado' in 2001, and 'Rasgue o Coração' in 2004. Pedro Lima left the group in 2007 to work on solo material, but the band kept going with Rodrigo Lima on vocals.
They released 'Quarto Mágico' that same year, followed by 'Epsilon' in 2012 and 'Viva!' in 2016. The lineup has stayed fairly consistent aside from Pedro's departure, with Rodrigo Lima, Caio Tibério, and Beto Viana continuing to record and perform.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
