Zoo TV was a multimedia concert tour and concept created by U2 during their early 1990s period. It grew out of the band's 1991 album 'Achtung Baby,' which had a more experimental, industrial sound compared to their earlier work. The tour ran from 1992 to 1993 and featured elaborate stage setups with multiple video screens, live news feeds, and visual effects.
On stage, Bono would sometimes perform as characters like The Fly or Mr. Macphisto. The shows incorporated songs from 'Achtung Baby' and the subsequent 1993 album 'Zooropa,' including tracks like 'Colorblind' and 'Safety In Numbers.' The production aimed to comment on media saturation and global issues through its spectacle.
While the existing history mentions the band's lineup as Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr., Zoo TV was specifically a touring and conceptual project rather than a separate band. The material presented during this era became part of U2's catalog from that time.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
