Zoot Sims was a saxophonist who played tenor and alto. He worked with Stan Kenton's band in the early 1950s, and later recorded with Gerry Mulligan. His version of 'Bye Bye Baby' is one of the songs people remember.
He made records for decades, including the album 'Zoot!' in 1956 and 'Waiting for the Rain' in 1982. Sometimes he played with other musicians like Al Cohn on tenor sax or Red Mitchell on bass.
Sims had a way with standards too, like 'Gee Baby Ain't I Good To You.' He kept playing until the 1980s.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
