Zoran Predin was born in 1952 in Maribor, Slovenia. His father was a clarinetist, and Predin grew up playing accordion while absorbing both Balkan folk traditions and Western pop music.
In 1986, he released the album "Zoran Predin in Prijatelji" with his band Prijatelji. That record included "Zarjavele Trobente," a song with lyrics by his friend Branko Jovanović that became widely known across the former Yugoslavia. The track's nostalgic tone and simple arrangement gave it staying power.
He kept recording through the 1990s and early 2000s, putting out albums like "Kuža Pasja" and "Domovina Moja" with various musicians including guitarist Miro Klinc and bassist Sašo Avsenik.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
