Zord formed in the early 2000s with Azrael on vocals and guitar, Lucifernus on guitar, Thanatos on bass, and Mortem on drums. Their debut album 'Ashes of Eden' came out in 2006 and included the song 'Black Petals.' They followed that with albums like 'Nocturnal Lament' in 2010 and 'The Abyss' in 2014.
Their music often had a gothic atmosphere, and songs like 'I'm Your Face' and 'Little Disasters' showed their interest in darker lyrical themes. They kept recording through the 2010s, putting out 'Requiem for the Damned' in 2018 and 'Shadows of Oblivion' in 2022.
Azrael dealt with depression and substance abuse at times, which affected the band's work. Their sound drew from goth rock and black metal influences, but they mostly operated outside mainstream industry channels.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
